Hi all,
The biggest concern, currently in front of Indians, are the attacks on places of worship. Let us not delve on who, where, why and how! Mere attacking on places of worship and writing & publishing ill about GODS are evil enough...
Let us first stop 'politician bashing' from the comforts of our residence / office... Let us not be lead by print and electronic media frenzy...Let us not jump into conclusions and join hands with extreme elements...
Instead, let us try and understand the root cause for this...
The first and foremost reason is that majority of us, wear our religion, up our sleeves and this attitude is exploited by vested interests...we end up attacking each other on caste / religious grounds...
Do our religions have principles, wherein, these kind of atrocities are recommended?
Do our epics decree that all should believe and be in only our own religion, thereby encouraging us to indulge in conversion?
Do our religious elders have preached hatred among one another?
The only answer is noooooo...
Let us first learn to respect others, be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of a battle...
Once this is practiced and accepted as the minimum norm for living then we shall automatically respect and even appreciate each others religions.
This shall only pave way to us living and enjoying our region / states cultures and traditions...
Which means, the annual harvest festivals (like Onam in Kerala and Pongal in Tamil Nadu etc..) can be truly celebrated in spirit by one and all of the state rather than by a particular religion alone.
Finally, it all culminates, to the fact and truth that we are all Indians and in front of our 'Mother Land' nothing else, even state-hoods and religions, shall not matter.
Only, then we shall not fight among ourselves, let alone, allow external forces to harm us.
Let us serve this great Country by being united as Indians and live in harmony.

Promise of better living sounds more attractive to a marginalized section of people than respecting better off section of community who never spares an opportunity to make their life miserable. I guess steps to remove poverty, providing better oppertunites and a life with dignity will make less people get into hate campaigns. Religion and God makes social life strong. It doesn't matter what religion or God you follow as long as you don't try to impose it on others. But unfortunately when power politics and wealth come into picture God or religion just becomes one of the pieces in their game.
I am afraid, learning to respect others and being kinder than necessary looks good in paper than in life.
Practically. What is possible?
Looking forward for your views..
i liked the way you put across your thoughts. I feel you should blog/ write more.... :)
